Welcome to the website of the Academic Peace Orchestra Middle East!
The Academic Peace Orchestra Middle East is a collaborative research group consisting of some 100 regional and international experts, who periodically meet at round-table conferences. These meetings address specific themes related to the establishment of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery vehicles (DVs) in the Middle East. The aim is to develop ideas and concepts as well as provide background information on the process of establishing such a zone in the Middle East to diplomats, experts, international organizations, and media. While arms control issues are obviously important, the Orchestra also focuses on broader political problématiques and their repercussions on Middle Eastern security.
In this website you can find out more about our concept, team, and conference cycle as well as our publications: the series of Policy Briefs and the jointly written Routledge volume "Arms Control and Missile Proliferation in the Middle East".
